# Uploading profile media and custom assets

> Upload a profile picture, banner, background image or video, audio, cursor, and audio player image. Includes file formats and recommended dimensions.

The **Media** tab in **Dashboard → Customize** is your central upload hub for all visual and audio assets on your biolink page. Each asset slot accepts specific file types and has a recommended size for the best appearance.

## Asset overview

| Asset                  | Accepted formats    | Recommended dimensions              |

## Profile picture

Your profile picture appears as your avatar on the card. A square image works best. GIF uploads are supported, so animated avatars are possible on all plans.

## Banner

The banner is a wide image that spans the top of your card. It is most visible in the **Default** and **Discord** layouts. Use a 1200×300px image to avoid cropping.

## Background

The background fills the entire page behind your card. You can upload a still image (JPG or PNG) or a video (MP4 or WEBM).

<Note>
  Video backgrounds are automatically muted. Audio from the background video is never played. Use the **Background Audio** slot if you want sound.
</Note>

## Background audio

Background audio plays automatically when a visitor opens your biolink page. Supported formats are MP3, WAV, and OGG. Keep your file size reasonable to avoid slow load times for visitors on slower connections.

## Audio player image

The audio player image appears to the left of the audio player card. It works like album art — upload a square image that represents your track or vibe.

<Tip>
  Hide the audio player in the **Profile** tab if you want background audio to play silently without showing the player card to visitors.
</Tip>

## Custom cursor

A custom cursor replaces the visitor's mouse pointer on your biolink page. Upload a `.cur` file for a static cursor or an `.ani` file for an animated one.

After uploading, use the **Cursor Size** slider to set the display size of your cursor (16–128px in 4px increments). The default is 32px.

<Note>
  Custom cursors only appear on your public biolink page, not inside the dashboard.
</Note>

## Audio visualizer

The **Audio Visualizer** makes the border glow pulse in sync with the bass frequencies of your background audio. Enable it in the **Profile** tab under the **Audio Visualizer** section.

When enabled, three additional controls appear:

| Control            | Range    | Description                                                                        |
| ------------------ | -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Peak Expansion** | 5–150px | How far the glow expands outward at peak bass |
| **Sensitivity** | 1–100 | How reactive the effect is to quiet vs. loud audio |
| **Bass Focus** | On / Off | When on, the visualizer only reacts to low-end bass hits and stays still otherwise |

See [Colors and glow](/profile/colors-and-glow) for details on configuring the border glow that the visualizer animates.
